For 2025 SIPP data, an adjustment was made to the income bands used in the food security and adult well-being hot decks to improve the accuracy of matches between donors with valid values and those with missing values:

Income categories are used in combination with demographic variables to identify potential hot-deck donors for respondents with missing values. In previous years, annual income bands in the food security and adult well-being hot decks were misspecified due to the use of a monthly income variable. This year, the income bands were specified in monthly income amounts to create a distribution across categories similar to what was intended by the annual income categories.  

Users should be aware of this change when analyzing adult well-being and food security data.
